Acne scars are the byproduct of acne that leaves skin blemishes. Since it makes the skin look unsmooth and uneven, most people would like to get rid of acne scars.

Since the severity of acne scars range from mild to severe, so do the treatments. Topic creams can be used to treat the least severe while surgery may be used to treat the most severe.

Prevention is the key to treating acne scars. When you have your acne, you have to be prudent in taking care of it. Do not pop the pimples as that would cause acne scars and also spread the germs which causes more acne.

Try to wash your face twice a day with antibacterial soap. The antibacterial soap kills bacterium that causes the acne and thereby reducing the chance of acne scars.

If you have a very mild case of acne scarring, then you can use acne scar creams which can be found at drugstores. These drugs do not require prescription. The way they work is by slowly dissolving the acne scars and blending in to your skin.

If that does not work, try getting a chemical peel. This is done at the dermatologists office where they put a peel with acid on your face. It will take off the top layer of your skin and leave the smooth skin underneath.

For more severe acne scarring, use dermabrasion to get rid of acne scars. Dermabrasion also works to remove the top layer of your skin and reveal the smooth skin under. A mechanical sanding device is used to sand away the skin.

Finally, you may want to use laser resurfacing. This is the most expensive technique for getting rid of acne scars. It is similar to dermabrasion except that it uses a laser instead of a sander to clear up the skin.

Other than the OTC medications, all of these procedures to get rid of acne scars should be done at a dermatologists office. They usually require some recovery time for the skin to grow back after treatment.

Acne scars can have a negative impact on your self image. However, you dont have to hide your face if you have acne scars. You now have options when it comes to acne scar removal. But the method of scar removal you choose depends on the type of scars you have and how much money you have to spend on scar removal.

One method of removing acne scars is by using a chemical peel. This method involves applying a strong chemical to your skin using a cotton tipped applicator. The strength of the chemical used is determined by how deep your scars are. When you have a chemical peel you can expect to feel a burning sensation after the chemical is applied. With a deep peel, your doctor may use an anesthetic because of the pain. You should allow yourself a couple of weeks to heal after a chemical peel.

If you have mild scarring your doctor may recommend microdermabrasion. This method of acne scar removal consists of small particles being passed through a vacuum tube to scrape away the top layer of scarred skin. This will remove the scar and stimulate new tissue growth. Microdermabrasion usually requires several treatments to get the best results.

If your skin is deeply pitted with acne scars a more invasive method of scar removal can be performed. With this method, the scarred area is surgically removed and then the wound is stitched closed. Now you have a small surgical scar instead of a large acne scar. This small scar can then be smoothed over. The problem with this method is it can be very painful, and it will take several weeks to heal.

If you dont want to try any of the above methods of acne scar removal you could give acne scar creams a try. These creams claim to remove acne scars after a few weeks. You can save a lot of money by using these creams from the comfort of your own home.

Acne is a major issue particularly for females as they appear without any prior warning and leave a lot of permanent scars. Irrespective of your abhorrence for it, acne appears throughout the teenage years of almost everyone and a lot of effort is required for removing these bad looking marks and stopping them from reappearing.

Acne is a nagging problem particularly for women, with its sudden appearance and the lasting scars that it leaves behind. No matter how much you abhor it, acne is an undeniable part of most teenagers’ lives and a fair amount of effort must be put in fighting these ugly little things and checking their recurrence.

When the sebum secreted by skin glands comes in contact with bacteria, it results in an infection, which is known as acne. When this infection is being healed, a protein named collagen is created under the skin. When the collagen is in excess, there is a swelling and when its generation is below normal then it leads to tiny craters on the skin. Either of these factors can lead to acne scars. Teenagers are usually most prone to acne as the hormone levels shoot up during puberty causing more sebum secretion.

Among the typical reasons of acne infection are application of beauty products that are not suitable to the type of skin, taking contraceptive medication, intake of medicinal drugs, and hereditary reasons. Numerous lifestyle aspects including food that is not healthy enough and mental stress can also result in acne. But contrary to what most people believe, scientists have not discovered any relation between oily food and acne.

Although a number of creams and herbal skin care products are sold in the market to deal with acne, it is better to seek medical help if the problem aggravates or keeps on recurring. Avoiding pressing the acne or poking it with any sharp object is a must to avoid worsening of acne.

An increasing number of people are also opting for cosmetic treatments to remove acne scars and to get back a skin free of scars and blemishes. Surgical procedures and laser treatment are among the most effective methods of permanently removing acne scars, but a lot of other new treatments are also available these days. You must take advice from a reputed skin specialist who would be able to assess your skin type and suggest a proper remedy accordingly.

Nothing can be more discouraging than successfully fighting off an existing case of acne to expose underlying acne scars. Most people would be hard-pressed to seek additional treatments, especially those that drained their bank accounts and free time in curing their acne. Acne scarring is rarely visible when inflamed acne consumes much of the skin. It is not until the acne is brought under control, and thus the inflammation brought down that the scars become fully visible. Treating scars can be just as expensive and demanding of times as treating acne.

Your friends weren’t necessarily correct when encouraging you to picking at your pimples. Squeezing pimples is often one of the primary causes of acne scarring. Most of us use our long nails to erupt that annoying whitehead without any concern for what consequence may await us. The most important rule in avoiding scaring is to resist the urge to pop pimples. The only thing you accomplish by squeezing that pesky whitehead is to further push the bacteria into the pore and into surrounding ones. This somewhat complicates your initial goal of getting rid of the pimple. More often than not, the pimples that you squeeze resurface in an hour so. This should be sufficient evidence to prove that you accomplish nothing through your pimple picking activities.

That time your friends encouraged you to pop a pimple was more of a disservice than anything. Squeezing pimples is one of the primary causes of acne scars. Who doesn’t get some gratification from picking at that newly erupted whitehead? While you may get some short term pleasure from popping your pimples, serious consequences can proceed the action. The first rule in preventing scarring is to avoid popping pimples. The only thing you can achieve from doing this is allowing the acne bacteria to penetrate deeper into the skin. The eruption can even help spread the bacteria to pores that are close by. You really accomplish nothing productive by tampering with pimples. Even if you were able to contain the bacteria, the existing pimple is surge to resurge within the hour. The bottom-line is that you are achieving little by messing with your pimples.

Not all pimples can create equal amounts of scarring. Some give way more quickly, granting your skin some relief from your poor choice of action. Whiteheads or blackheads, for instance, are lesions that tend to respond rapidly to squeezing, often bursting. Lesions the rest under the skin, however, do not burst, causing people to continue squeezing at them. These prolonged periods of squeezing can leave behind immense scarring. These types of pimples are especially best left alone. They will eventually subside on their own without any “help” from you. Continue with your regular acne treatment without concentrating on them too much.

Brace yourself for some financial as well as physical pain. With many of these treatments, you will have to remain out of the sunlight for a few days and will have to tolerate some skin peeling. Anyone who has undergone some form of scar treatment will agree that prevention would have been much more worth it.

In order to stay free of acne scars, you have to resist the temptation to pick at pimples. One pimple can only bother you for so long, scarring can plague you for a lifetime. The choice is yours.

Acne scarring are an awful reminder of the having suffered pimples or even acne previously. They are intolerable because of their apparent longevity and their non-complimentary appearance. Generally speaking, acne scars are rather difficult to treat, but tissue regeneration is not impossible nowadays with all the fantastic technological advancements.

Generally speaking, when referring to acne scars, we are talking about the healed lesions caused by an acne infection. While most scarring is temporary and will probably disappear naturally in time, scars from the more severe forms of acne can be permanent.

Acne scarring can be prevented if the sufferer sees a doctor when it is in the incipient stage, especially if nodules or cysts accompany the red pustules on the skin’s surface. If the breakouts of acne have marked your skin, you will have to approach the problem from a different perspective, which usually involves surgery.

Laser resurfacing is one way of removing the damaged skin areas and stimulating the natural regrowth of the tissue underneath. The procedure requires only local anaesthesia and can last between a few minutes and an hour depending on the extent of the damage.

Fractional laser therapy is one of the most recent methods of eliminating acne scarring. It involves surgical intervention at deep skin layers. The treatment is superior to both dermabrasion and laser resurfacing in terms of quality and involves a much reduced healing period. Nevertheless, fractional laser therapy lies within the reach of only those few fortunate people, who can pay for it, since it is the most expensive acne treatment available these days.

Sometimes, additional sessions are necessary to improve the condition of the upper layers of skin, before they can tackle the deep level treatment of the acne scar. The doctor may inject collagen into the scars in order to raise the normal skin level or she/he may suggest micro-dermabrasion for the very same purpose. Trying to perform chemical peels for acne treatment at home is a bad policy given the risk of aggravating the condition by irritating the scars even more.

As for the types of acne scars, they can be classified by the way they look. Scars can result because of an increase of tissue or due to a loss of tissue They both have an adverse impact on the way the face looks. Specialists’ evaluation of the nature of the scars is an extremely important factor in deciding on the selection of one kind of therapy or the other.

Acne is a more common problem for people than you might think. While comparatively few adults suffer the condition compared to teenagers and young adults, many people are forced to live with the acne scars of their youth forever. It can be very embarrassing to be an adult with severe acne scarring. Fortunately, there are several ways to get rid of acne scarring.

One of the first and most used treatments is to use topical creams or medications. While this can sometimes be effective in dealing with acne scars that are not very deep, it does not always work on more severe acne scars. For severe kinds of acne scarring, there are usually some combinations of skin resurfacing and surgical procedures that are required.

The use of topical creams and medicines are more effective against acne that is present or has recently started healing. Proper treatment can help prevent acne scars from showing up at all, since the body is actually efficient at repairing the skin.

However, once you’re dealing with permanent acne scars, it is time to consider stronger methods, such as dermal fillers or excision procedures. These methods can work wonders in the fight to get rid of acne. However, they are much more intensive than just using creams of medication.

For example, those with a fear of needles should probably stay away from dermal fillers. This procedure requires that a sort of false skin (which may be made from human or animal fat or created from other compounds) to be injected into the scarred area. It fades over time and needs to be redone, but it makes acne scarring much less noticeable.

Excisions are surgical procedures in which part of the acne scarring skin is removed, and the new skin is put over the top. This does create a new scar, but it’s usually much lighter than acne scars. Ask your doctor what other treatments are available for you to try.

by Jessa Wright

Though acne scarring is quite common ,in most cases there are ways to help prevent and reduce scarring. The best way to treat acne scarring is to start early and continue for as long as is necessary.

Acne scarring occurs when the skin of the blemish is injured. This happens from squeezing mostly. When the blemish is cleared up the scar is whats left. Science does not know why some persons scar worse that others, but the tendency seems to be genetic.

Wouldn’t it be great if doctors could determine who is most at risk for acne scarring? Then they could zero in on treatment options and take a very deliberate approach to avoiding acne scarring. Until then, acne sufferers have to treat acne with the currently available options, and hopefully avoid acne scarring as much as they can.

There are different forms of acne scarring. It is somewhat determined by the individuals ability to heal as well as by the severity of the inflammation. But, no matter the form, the most effective management is to prevent the occurrence as much as possible.

Scarring and hyper-pigmentation is not always related to severe forms of acne. It can result from large or small pimples. Not all acne scarring can be avoided, no matter how careful one is.

Do not put off seeing your Dermatologist if you have acne. There may be nothing he can do about the scarring at this time, but he/she needs to follow your situation so he can intervene at the best time.

Is there any easy solution to getting rid of moderate acne scarring without having to get involved in surgical processes such as dermabrasion? Not really. All solutions take diligence.

In general, treatment of acne scarring is a multistep procedure. It is important to emphasize that acne scarring can be improved but never entirely reversed.

Cover-ups, collagenosis, injectables, topical creams and chemical peels, are non-surgical treatments for acne scarring.

Be reassured that the physician is not abandoning you, and remains interested in treating your acne scarring even though he may refuse to do anything until your active acne is cleared up. Acne scarring is a very complex problem and has no simple solution. Your physician will have you address the active acne first, before scarring treatments.

If you ask your doctor about the best options for treating acne scarring, surgery will probably be the top recommendation. Surgery for acne scarring is usually done on the underlying skin so you will not have any stitches or visible marks.

Don’t decide on one of the seriously exfoliating treatments the week before graduation! While they can help greatly with the reduction of pore appearance and any leftover acne scarring or other skin imperfections due to acne, t you need to know they can really make your skin look worse before it looks better. Give yourself plenty of time for those treatments.

Laser treatments are popular. As they are performed by professionals they are quite expensive. What a laser treatment is, actually is a controlled burn to remove a layer of skin and with it the acne scarring.

In cleaning up your active acne with facial cleaners you’ll be glad to know that they reduce redness, eliminate swelling and regenerate skin cells, all of which are essential in the removal of acne. So it is nice to know you will /can look some better in the process.

Acne Scars are visible reminders of injury and tissue repair. In the case of acne, the injury is caused by the bodys inflammatory response to sebum, bacteria and dead cells in the plugged sebaceous follicle. Two types of true scars exist, as discussed later: (1) depressed areas such as ice-pick scars, and (2) raised thickened tissue such as keloids.

Among the elements of the repair kit are white blood cells and an array of inflammatory molecules that have the task of repairing tissue and fighting infection. However, when their job is done they may leave a somewhat messy repair site in the form of fibrous scar tissue, or eroded tissue.

However, when their job is done they may leave a somewhat messy repair site in the form of fibrous scar tissue, or eroded tissue. White blood cells and inflammatory molecules may remain at the site of an active acne lesion for days or even weeks. In people who are susceptible to scarring, the result may be an acne scar. The occurrence and incidence of scarring is still not well understood, however.

Well there are plenty of different types of scars-

Ice-pick scars usually occur on the cheek. They are usually small, with a somewhat jagged edge and steep sides”like wounds from an ice pick. Ice-pick scars may be shallow or deep, and may be hard or soft to the touch. Soft scars can be improved by stretching the skin; hard ice-pick scars cannot be stretched out.

Atrophic macules are usually fairly small when they occur on the face, but may be a centimeter or larger on the body. They are soft, often with a slightly wrinkled base, and may be bluish in appearance due to blood vessels lying just under the scar. Over time, these scars change from bluish to ivory white in color in white-skinned people, and become much less obvious.

Soft scars, superficial or deep are soft to the touch. They have gently sloping rolled edges that merge with normal skin. They are usually small, and either circular or linear in shape.
